Huitzilopochtli God of Sun and War T-Shirt – Aztec Warrior Mythology Tee

Huitzilopochtli — "Hummingbird of the South" — was the patron god of the Aztec (Mexica) people: the deity of the sun and of war, and the very reason the great city of Tenochtitlan was founded, according to legend, on the spot where an eagle was seen perched on a cactus devouring a serpent. Born fully grown and fully armed to defend his mother Coatlicue against his sister Coyolxauhqui and her four hundred siblings, he was believed to fight the darkness of night every evening and be reborn with the sun each morning — a battle the Aztecs believed required regular offerings and ritual to keep the sun rising.

This design channels his warrior aspect: a fierce hummingbird-crested headdress, a golden sun-disc halo blazing behind him, and full ceremonial regalia in the deep reds, turquoise, and gold associated with his imagery, gripping his shield and his serpent-fire staff (Xiuhcoatl) as attributes of his power over both sun and battle.
