Quetzalcoatl — "Feathered Serpent" — is one of the most enduring and revered figures in Mesoamerican mythology, worshipped across cultures from the Toltecs to the Aztecs for well over a thousand years. Far more than a monster or beast, he was a creator god: associated with wind and rain, the morning star (Venus), learning and the priesthood, and credited in legend with giving humanity maize and even bringing the first humans back from the underworld. His counterpart in Maya belief, Kukulkan, is honoured at Chichén Itzá — but Quetzalcoatl himself was central to the great cities of Cholula and Teotihuacan, where temples were built in his image.

This design brings him to life as a coiled, richly detailed serpent — emerald and jade scales banded in gold, a crown of layered feathers, and a fierce open jaw with a curling red tongue, wrapping back on itself in a circular composition that echoes his role as a symbol of renewal and cyclical time.
