Our seasoned seagull traveller is ready for the holiday of a lifetime. It's dressed head to webbed toe in tourist uniform: a palm-print Hawaiian shirt, a straw hat with a tropical band, dark sunglasses and a vintage camera slung round its neck. One wing rests on a battered teal suitcase covered in travel stickers (palm trees, mountains, planes and a globe), and a well-travelled rucksack is strapped to its back. Behind it a jet climbs past the control tower into a blazing retro sunset of palm trees and runway lights.

It's a feathered twist on the classic Brit abroad. Chunky 70s-style lettering with a rainbow drop shadow and a sun-faded, distressed finish make it a proper vintage holiday tee.

A genuine Brit abroad

There's no single species called a "seagull", but some of Britain's gulls really do head off on holiday. Many lesser black-backed gulls that breed in the UK fly south each autumn to spend the winter in Spain, Portugal and North Africa, returning in spring. Plenty of our coastal gulls, it turns out, are regulars on the Costa routes.
